Because the optical modules and fiber are factory-terminated and tested as one assembly, there is no need to separately select SFP+ transceivers and optical patch cords.
This simplifies installation and reduces the number of connection points in the optical link.
The 10G SFP+ AOC is designed for high-bandwidth applications including 10 Gigabit Ethernet, with typical implementations using an 850 nm VCSEL transmitter and PIN receiver over multimode fiber. Depending on the selected construction, OM3 multimode fiber can support links up to approximately 300 m.
This makes the product particularly suitable for short- and medium-distance connections within data centers and equipment rooms.
