HIPHOTONICS Loose Tube 150m Span ADSS Optical Fiber Cable is an all-dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) aerial optical cable designed for short-span overhead installations, with a typical maximum span of up to 150 meters, depending on installation conditions and mechanical loading requirements.

The cable adopts a loose-tube stranded structure with a non-metallic central strength member and aramid strength yarns, providing excellent tensile performance while maintaining a completely dielectric construction. This makes it suitable for installation along telecommunications networks, utility poles and power-line corridors where metallic components are undesirable.

The cable can be manufactured with different fiber counts and fiber types, including G.652D, G.657A1 and G.657A2, according to project requirements.

Cable Construction

The optical fibers are housed in PBT loose tubes, which are stranded around a central FRP strength member using an SZ-stranding process. Water-blocking materials are incorporated into the cable core to help prevent longitudinal water penetration.

Aramid yarns provide additional mechanical reinforcement, while the outer layer is protected by a UV-resistant black HDPE sheath.

Optical Fiber → Loose Tube → Water Blocking Material → FRP Central Strength Member → Aramid Strength Yarn → HDPE Outer Sheath

This loose-tube architecture is widely used for ADSS cables because it helps isolate the optical fibers from mechanical stress during installation and operation.

*The actual allowable span depends on cable design, fiber count, installation tension, wind/ice loading, sag requirements and local environmental conditions. Commercial 150m-span ADSS products similarly specify the span together with defined loading conditions rather than treating 150m as an unrestricted value.
